UPDATE: 3/30/26
Downloader has now been restored to the app store.
The official Downloader app was recently missing from the Amazon App Store. If you already have Downloader installed on your Fire TV device, it will continue to work. This issue only affects those trying to install it for the first time. We hope this is a temporary problem.
What Happened?
According to the developer, Amazon suspended the Downloader app from the Amazon Appstore for Fire TVs and Fire Tablets. The developer believes this suspension is temporary and that the app will be restored soon.
Amazon's reason for the suspension was: “Amazon restricts the publication of third-party browser apps on Fire tablets and Fire TV devices.” Downloader has had a built-in browser for over nine years. The developer suspects that the issue arises from the app registering itself as a browser since the v2 release earlier this month. This change allows it to open links from other apps.
To resolve the issue, the developer submitted a v2.0.2 update for Downloader to Amazon. This version no longer registers as a browser, matching its previous behavior. The update was submitted this morning, and it usually takes Amazon a few days to test and approve submissions.
Let’s hope that this situation is temporary and that the Amazon Fire TV team reinstates the app quickly.
Caution: Beware of Imitations
If you search for the Downloader app within the Amazon App Store, you may come across a different application. This is not the real Downloader app! The legitimate version is developed by AFTVNews, while the imitation is developed by SUPONO HOLDINGS LTD.
Avoid using the imitation Downloader app, as it will charge you $8.99 a week and will not work.

Recognizing the Real Downloader
The real Downloader logo looks like this:

What to Do Next
We suggest waiting a few days to see if Downloader is reinstated. If it is, install it at that time. This situation adds to the list of frustrating restrictions we’ve seen from Amazon over the past year.
As a result, we are now directing users to Android TV Boxes. These devices do not have the same restrictions. Additionally, Downloader is still available for installation through Google Play on these devices.
Alternative Options
If the app does not return, we have alternative options available that we can implement.
In summary, keep an eye on the situation with the Downloader app. If you have it installed, you’re in good shape. If not, be cautious of imitations and consider other streaming solutions. For easy-to-use devices for streaming TV and movies, visit ARCstream.net.
Stay tuned for updates!
